Here is a realistic, step-by-step look at what to expect during a remodel. From demolition to final walkthrough. Tips, timeline and advice from remodeling pros!

So, You’re Thinking About remodeling?

Remodeling your home is a big decimation - and whether you are redoing your kitchen, updating a bathroom or tackling a full home renovation, you’re probably wondering: What’s this actually going to be like?

At FORGED BUILT, we have helped many homeowners through the remodeling process. We have seen the excitement, the mess, the big reveals- and everything in between. Here is a realistic guide-world look at what to expect during a remodel, with helpful tips to make it go smoother from start to finish.

1️⃣ THE PLANNING STAGE: WHERE IT ALL BEGINS

This is the fun part. You have ideas, maybe a Pinterest board full of incarnation, and now it’s finally time to bring that visit to life. We will meet with you, walk though the space, and talk about what’s possible for your budget.

You’ll Get:

🔹 A clear idea of project scope

🔹 Help choosing materials and finishes

🔹 A rough timeline and estimate

Our Tip: Be open and honest about your budget and priorities. It helps us design something that works best for your lifestyle.

2️⃣ DESIGN & PERMITS: THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES WORK

Once the plan is in motion, we will start working on designs and necessary permits. Some projects require architectural drawings or city approvals, and we’ll handle all of that for you.

This part can take some time, but it’s critical to get this done correctly.

3️⃣ GETTING READY FOR CONSTRUCTION

Now it’s time to prep. We’ll walk you though:

🔹 What areas need to be cleared out

🔹 How we will protect the rest of your home

🔹 Whether you will need to relocate (usually only for major remodels)

It’s normal to feel a bit nervous at this point- it’s a big change! But we have got your back every step of the way.

4️⃣ DEMOLITION: OUT WITH THE OLD

Yes, it gets loud and yes there is dust. But this is where the magic starts to happen.

We will safely remove old cabinets, flooring, walls- what ever needs to go. It might look messy for a bit- because it is! But trust us, it’s part of the process.

5️⃣ CONSTRUCTION BEGINS: YOUR VISION COMES TO LIFE

This is the heart of the remodel. You will start to see the real progress as framing, electrical, plumbing and finishes go in. It’s exciting, but there can be hiccups- weather delays, backordered materials, or surprise plumbing issues behind walls.

That’s why communication is key. we will keep you in the loop so you always know what’s going on in your home.

6️⃣ INSPECTIONS & QUALITY CHECKS

Depending on the work, we will schedule city or county inspections to make sure everything meets code. We take care of the coordinations, so you don’t have to stress.

7️⃣ FINAL WALKTHROUGH & TOUCH-UPS

Once the dust settles (literally), we’ll walk you though the finished space with you. If anything feels off- a drawer doesn’t shut right, or a paint tough-up is needed. It goes on the “punch list” and we take care of it.

8️⃣ CLEAN-UP & MOVE-IN READY

We leave your home clean, safe, and ready to enjoy. That first step into your newly remodeled space? It’s on of our favorite parts of the job.

A FEW TIPS TO KEEP YOUR REMODEL SMOOTH:

🔹 Trust the process- its normal for things to look worse before they get better

🔹 Protect items in nearby rooms from dust

🔹 Don’t be afraid to ask questions- it’s your home!

🔹 Pick a contractor who communicates well and truly listens to you
